What tends to matter here
- The register is the handover. When a trustee or a hall committee changes, what is due and when it was last done is in the system rather than in somebody's memory.
- Hiring the hall out changes the duty set for the evening, and the hirer is rarely told what they have taken on.
- Older buildings bring asbestos and legionella duties that surprise committees who think of the hall as simple.
- Volunteers acknowledge procedures by link, with no accounts to create for people giving their time.
- Events that raise capacity are what brings Martyn's Law into a village hall, and it is usually the annual one that does it.
