What it does
The RAG view
Buildings down the side, regimes across the top. Somebody who has never used the system should be able to point at the problem within a few seconds.
Each cell is a rollup of the register rows underneath it, so the colour on the dashboard and the colour on the screen it links to are the same number. A dashboard that disagrees with the detail is worse than no dashboard.
Two things override everything else: anything overdue makes the cell red, and any open urgent action makes the cell red. Those are not weighted against the rest, because "mostly fine on average" is not a useful thing to tell a board.
A dated snapshot is taken so you can show the trend — where you were in January against where you are now — which is usually the thing a trustee or a funder actually wants.
What it does not do
The boundary, stated plainly, because you will find it eventually and it is better to find it now.
- It is a rollup, never a second opinion. If the register is wrong the dashboard is wrong in exactly the same way.
- Weightings are content, set per regime and reviewed by a professional, not tuned per customer. You can see them; you cannot quietly make your own score look better.
